Reason Why You Should Buy Flip Video Camcorders
In the era of the do-everything handheld gadget, Flip Video Mino and the Flip Video camcorder family seems almost obsolescent. They don’t make phone calls, send instant messages, browse the Web, or even keep your calendar. So why buy flip video? What Flip Video Camcorder does is give you a way to shoot and upload videos—and even edit them a bit—with a easy as abc that only a single-minded product can achieve.
The Flip is a little camcorder about the size of a typical point-and-shoot still camera. It uses flash memory instead of tape, and it costs about $149.99/£ 95.54 (Flip Ultra) for a 4GB version that holds 120 minutes of video or $229/£145.87 for a (Flip Mino HD120) Captures 120 minutes of stunning HD video on 8 GB version. Its user interface could hardly be simpler. There’s a four-way control—up and down for the barely useful 2:1 digital zoom, left and right to navigate through the videos you have recorded—with a record button in the middle. There are just three other buttons: play, delete, and power.
The Flip doesn’t deliver the versatility you would expect from a $1,000 digital video camera. The lack of a real zoom lens limits your shots; the camera doesn’t work that well in low-light conditions; and the somewhat dim 1.5-in. LCD display that is the only viewfinder can be difficult to see outdoors on a sunny day. On the other hand, the 640-by-480-pixel images are surprisingly good for such a low-priced camera, and far better than the video taken by mobile-phone handsets. The built-in mike is more than adequate.
The Flip Video works on Apple’s OSX just as easily. Like the PC, once plugged in, it is detected as an external hard drive. While you have to install the proper software to view the video files on the Mac as well as the management and editing software on OSX, the installation software is already on the Flip Video and it walks you through setting them up quickly and easily. It’s two extra minor steps, but the installed software is identical to the easy to use PC software.
There are two versions of main units broken down to product cat which are Flip Ultra and Flip Mino, both the flip Mino & flip Ultra are broken down further :
Flip Ultra & Flip Ultra HD .
Flip Ultra with 120 minutes of recording time on 4GB of built in memory, No additional memory needed.
1000
Flip Ultra HD combines 120 minutes of recording in HD with 8GB of built in memory.
Flip Mino, Flip MinoHD 60 and Flip MinoHD 120
Flip Mino has 60 minutes of high-quality video on 2GB of built-in memory
Flip MinoHD60 Captures 60 minutes of incredible HD video on 4GB of built-in memory.
Flip MinoHD120 Captures 120 minutes of stunning HD video on 8 GB of built-in memory
The Whole of the Flip Video family powers up in about 5-10 seconds and, once on, starts recording the instant you press the record button. Pressing it again stops the recording just as quickly and the Flip is ready to record the next clip within two seconds. I was really impressed by the quick ready times.
Pure Digital an argues that the quality of the Flip Video camcorders are be better than the rudimentary video functions offered on mobile phones or digital cameras and that Flip Video camcorders will allow people to shoot more creatively since they won’t be tied to a Webcam. “Flip Video isn’t likely to dramatically expand the amount of user-generated content available but it can open the doors to an expanding demographic
The Pure Flip Video camcorders are designed with amateur’s users in mind. Who want to have easy access to a light, portable and quality camcorder, and not ready to commit to a $2,000 device. Because the camera has simple “power,” “play,” “delete,” and “record” buttons, it’s virtually fool proof. It has a 2X zoom and allows you to do instant playback like any other camcorder, but unlike any other camcorder, it has a built-in Flip Video Software Program that launches directly from the camcorder. Using the program you can view, organize, and locally archive your videos in a clip-based library system. You can also capture still photos from video clips and edit your videos to create fun montages and YouTube ready videos.
Uploading video to the Web isn’t second nature to everyone, and the makers of the new Flip Video understand that.
Much like the way easy photo-sharing applications like iPhoto, Flickr and Picasa offer simple editing controls and take some of the pain out of uploading and sharing digital photos, the video camera set to hit stores Tuesday is packaged with editing software that will upload video clips to video-sharing sites YouTube and Grouper.
A small USB arm flips out from the side of the camera and plugs directly into a Mac or PC. The video-uploading software, contained on the camera itself, launches and gives the option of editing clips of video you’ve taken, selecting clips to share with others, or sending video to YouTube.
The YouTube option automatically transcodes the video from its original MPEG-4 file format and converts it to WMV. Choosing to share clips with friends also transcodes and uploads the file right away. Recipients receive a private e-mail link to Grouper, a video-sharing site owned by Sony, instead of a bulky video file.
The proliferation of highly portable, easy-to-use devices that can make good-quality content is an interesting one, pushing ever forward the ability of everyone to access important interactive tools
Verdict on Flip Video
